Class Summary:
The Girls and Boys Recreational Program is set up for fun and recreation. Our program is designed to teach proper techniques and solid fundatmentals without jeopardizing the inherent fun and excitement found in the wonderful sport of gymnastics. Couple this approach of strong, safe procedures with an excellent staff, this means only one thing, your young gymnast will learn while enjoying themselves.
Curriculum:
STGA follows the guidelines of the United States Junior Olympic Program. Our staff uses the USAG Junior Olympic Program's levels 1 thru 4 as the bases of all instruction. This includes all the men's and women's Olympic events, as well as trampoline and tumble trak. We take great care in training a well rounded gymnast. The women gymnasts train on vault, bars, beam, and floor exercise (tumbling), and the men are taught on rings, pommel horse, parallel bars, vault, floor (tumbling), and high bar.
STGA offers several recreational level classes for school age children including:
Girls Recreational: Girls recreational classes are for girls only. Athletes must be at least 5 years old to participate in this class and are often as old as 14 years. The focus of classes at this level is on the progressive development of the fundamental skills of gymnastics, as well as on improving athlete’s strength and flexibility. This class is 1 hour long and time is spent on all the women’s events, including vault, bars, beam, floor, and trampoline. Athletes attend class once a week and the cost is $85 per session. Each session is 8 weeks long.

*Special class for girls ages 5 & 6 that is a step up from Tots & a fundamental building opportunity for those girls ready to do more difficult skills.
**Level III Rec Team Class. All athletes must meet certain skill requirements to register for this class. Please see an STGA coach if interested.

Girls 10+ Gymnastics: Girls 10+ gymnastics classes are for girls only. Athletes must be at least 10 years old to participate in this class. This class works on all aspects of gymnastics, but the main emphasis is on tumbling. This class is 1 hour long and is only offered one day a week. Athletes attend class once a week and the cost is $85 per session. Each session is 8 weeks long.

Girls P&D: Girls P&D classes are only for girls who are already registered in a Girls Recreational or Girls 10+ Gymnastics Class. These classes give athletes an opportunity to attend a second FREE class during the week to work on advancement towards Progression and Development Program goals. Athletes may sign up for these classes each week on a first come first serve basis with a limit of 8 athletes per class.
